So it's time to go for a little wander*...India, Singapore (I'm gonna count it even if it is only for 26 hours), Australia, Argentina and Brazil. Eight and a half weeks - should be fun.

And I may post up some stuff here about how it goes, for anyone who wants to waste two minutes having a read.

Macadamia nut cheese

Some things I have learnt whilst in Australia:
  • If you scan through FM radio whilst driving around you will always come across a station playing Nickelback or something that sounds like them. Ugh.
  • The person who decided to put macadamia nuts and cheese together was a flawed genius. Yes they have united two of my favourite foods, and yes a small taste of it is surprisingly good...but would you really want a block of it??
  • It's still exciting to see a platypus in the wild even if all you actually see is fleeting glimpses of vaguely platypus-shaped shapes in the creek.
  • Swimming in lakes is warmer than swimming in waterfall pools.
  • It's hard to walk quietly in order to spot wildlife in the forest when they lay gravel tracks. However on leaf mulch even I am capable of going slowly and silently enough to sneak up on (well, stumble upon) musky rat kangaroos.
  • You can get amazingly good rates on deluxe suites at 4 star hotels in tiny towns if you walk up on a Wednesday in off-season.
  • Massive jacuzzi baths and complimentary port are a good thing.

  1. We came across 'Cheese Ice-cream' whilst on our travels. I thought (somewhat naively) that some Indonesian genius had successfully united two of my favourite foods... (a velvety mascapone-esque concoction perhaps?)....no no no no no NO!

  4. Is it bad that this is the thing I was most excited about? Probably.
